The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, praised the Republic of Moldova’s progress on its path toward European Union membership while speaking at the official opening of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union, held in Nicosia.

“Moldova’s progress on its journey towards the EU is remarkable, dear Maia Sandu. Moldova has just joined the Single Euro Payments Area and the EU roaming area. Today in Nicosia, we continue working together on the next steps towards EU accession. We are ensuring that all Moldovans will benefit,” Ursula von der Leyen stated.
