The Speaker of Parliament held meetings with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China

The Speaker of Parliament, Igor Grosu, held meetings yesterday with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Moldova, Hubert Knirsch, and the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Dong Zhihua.

The discussions primarily focused on the progress achieved by our country on its European integration path, as well as on bilateral relations and parliamentary diplomacy.
“On Monday, the Government updated the National Program for Accession to the European Union for the period 2025–2029. At the beginning of next year, the legislative institution will supplement the document with projects aimed at aligning national legislation with EU standards, which we consider necessary,” the Speaker of Parliament stated during the discussions.

Igor Grosu also emphasized the importance of strengthening capacities and efforts in this regard. “We have established a new commission – the European Integration Commission – but we need capacity-building at the level of all standing committees,” the Speaker added.

The officials also discussed enhanced cooperation both at the parliamentary level and in areas such as the economy, education, energy, healthcare, and IT.

Igor Grosu thanked them for the fact that relations between our countries are based on mutual respect, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and expressed his gratitude for the support provided over the years.
