Approved project: the zero rate of corporate income tax on undistributed profit will also be applied in 2026. The facility will be valid, with certain exceptions, for companies with an annual turnover of up to 100 million lei and fewer than 249 employees. The Government supports a draft law aimed at facilitating economic activity and stimulating private investment, TRIBUNA reports.
- For individuals, the right to deduct expenses for education and professional training is introduced. The ceiling is raised to 20,000 lei, applied cumulatively to all types of education expenses, and now includes personal professional development, not just children’s education as before.
- Economic agents producing renewable electricity will be entitled to deduct expenses if they transfer free of charge to the system operator the connection installations, power lines, substations, distribution points, and/or transformer stations.
- The VAT registration threshold will be increased from 1.2 million to 1.5 million lei, reducing compliance costs for a significant number of SMEs and encouraging their expansion.
- For agricultural producers, the conditions for refunding accumulated VAT are revised: they will be entitled to reimbursement equal to the VAT amount declared for the fiscal period of December 2024.
The draft law is to be voted by Parliament, with provisions entering into force on January 1, 2026.
