The Government’s current priorities and the importance of accelerating reforms aimed at supporting the country’s economic development were discussed during the meeting between Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and the International Monetary Fund team, led by Alina Iancu.

IMF experts are in the Republic of Moldova from December 4 to 17 to assess recent economic developments, macroeconomic outlook, and associated risks.

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu emphasized that the Government is currently focused on several strategic objectives: revitalizing the national economy, advancing the European integration agenda, and ensuring state security. To achieve these goals, the Government has a clear plan to improve the investment climate, support small and medium-sized enterprises, boost productivity, and create new jobs. At the same time, efforts will continue in the areas of fiscal and budgetary policy, anti-corruption, rule of law, and justice sector reform.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment to strengthening cooperation with the IMF so that the measures undertaken contribute to improving the quality of life for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova.
