Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mihai Popșoi, met with Keith Kellogg, Special Envoy of U.S. President Donald Trump for Ukraine. The discussions focused on the current challenges facing the Republic of Moldova, the war in Ukraine, regional security developments, and ways to strengthen cooperation between Moldova and the United States, TRIBUNA reports.
The head of Moldovan diplomacy reiterated that the Republic of Moldova firmly stands with Ukraine and the Ukrainian people: “It is essential that the war ends as soon as possible and that a lasting peace is established, based on respect for the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
In this context, Mihai Popșoi presented the authorities’ efforts to strengthen Moldova’s resilience and reinforce state institutions, with the support of strategic partners.
During his visit to Washington, Minister Popșoi also met with Christopher W. Smith, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. The talks addressed topics from the current agenda of bilateral cooperation.
