The parliamentary faction of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) has registered a draft law that will expand the criteria for applying the repatriation law, allowing more Moldovan citizens who decide to return home to repatriate their belongings, particularly cars.
The eligibility criteria for vehicles will be extended:
- vehicle age increased from 9 to 12 years,
- car value raised from 400,000 to 550,000 lei,
- engine capacity increased from 2500 cm³ to 3000 cm³.
A new provision requires that the person repatriating their belongings must sign a declaration of personal responsibility, committing to remain in the country for 3 years as a resident.
After the law is adopted, the government will also simplify the process of repatriating household goods.
PAS MP Valeriu Robu stated: “I appeal to those who are thinking of returning to the country but, for various reasons, have not yet decided. Now is a good opportunity to come home, invest, and thus contribute to building a Moldova that our generation, unfortunately, did not have. We left a poor Moldova, but today we have the chance to return and build a Moldova where one truly wants to live.”
PAS MP Alic Baraboi added: “This draft law, which we registered today, is an electoral commitment that we are now materializing. Around 400 citizens have already benefited from the provisions of the current law, and today we are introducing criteria that will expand this number. Through this draft law, we send a clear message: we want our citizens abroad to be able to return home and feel that they are awaited here.”
