Irina Vlah, leader of the Republican Party “Heart of Moldova”, announced that she continues to inform international partners about the judicial process initiated by the Ministry of Justice against the political formation she leads.
The politician stated that, regarding the latest actions of the party — including the request to verify the constitutionality of the contested provisions of this controversial law — she has informed the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset, and the Secretary of the Venice Commission, Simona Granata-Menghini.
“The authorities are trying to suspend the party’s activity without presenting any evidence to confirm violations of the law. These abuses have already been noted by international observers, attracting increasing attention from European institutions. The basis of these abuses is the new law on political parties, which gives the authorities tools of pressure against political formations and, in practice, allows restrictions on freedom of expression and the activity of the real opposition,” she said in a message on her Telegram channel.
