In 2026, the economy of the Republic of Moldova is expected to continue its consolidation process, with growth estimated between 2.2% and 2.8%. The positive trajectory will be supported by an improved external environment, stronger domestic demand, and the advancement of investment projects. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization, Eugeniu Osmochescu, stated that investments will be the main driver of the economy, with growth projected at up to 20%. Key areas include energy, road and rail infrastructure, digitalization, social infrastructure, and water and sanitation systems.

Private consumption will also sustain growth, advancing by about 2.2%, supported by rising real incomes, a stronger labor market, and favorable credit conditions. Stabilized inflation will help maintain consumer confidence and purchasing power.

Foreign trade will show positive dynamics: exports are forecast to grow by around 8%, driven by strong agricultural results from 2025, the recovery of manufacturing, and improved access to external markets. Imports will rise by about 10%, fueled by investment projects and household consumption.

By sector:

  • Agriculture — modest growth of 1–1.5%, dependent on weather conditions but supported by modernization, irrigation, and digital technologies.
  • Industry — growth of around 3.5%, driven by domestic and external demand, investment expansion, and state support programs.
  • Construction — one of the most dynamic sectors, with growth of about 12%, due to large-scale public investments.
  • Services — growth of about 1.4%, supported by domestic demand, real estate recovery, ICT development, and HoReCa expansion.
