The Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM) has called on President Maia Sandu to immediately convene the Supreme Security Council. According to the Socialists, recent events show that the country is facing serious internal security problems: arms and drug trafficking, an alarming rise in organized crime, and other types of offenses that endanger citizens’ lives and have become chronic in recent years, TRIBUNA reports.
“If President Sandu prefers to remain silent about these events of maximum social risk, then at least she should allow members of the Supreme Security Council to present summarized information to the citizens. We are a republic, not a monarchy, and citizens have the right to demand and know the realities officially presented by the country’s leadership,” stated Igor Dodon, leader of PSRM and head of the party’s parliamentary faction.
