The arrest was ordered for a period of 30 days at the request of the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS). According to the ruling of the Chișinău Court, the 52-year-old man — administrator of a company — will remain in state custody to prevent evasion and ensure the objectivity of the investigation, TRIBUNA reports.
Additionally, under the direction of PCCOCS prosecutors, the investigation continues in custody for three other individuals:
- the head of the enterprise that ordered the transport of the goods,
- the head of the transport company,
- and the broker.
As for the truck driver, a Moldovan citizen, he was detained by Romanian authorities, who also seized the smuggled goods.
The criminal investigation is ongoing, and all individuals benefit from the presumption of innocence, in accordance with the law.
