The Speaker of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, will take part in the fourth edition of the Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform. The event will take place on Monday, November 24, and will be hosted by the Swedish Riksdag.

The summit will bring together speakers of national parliaments and representatives of interparliamentary organizations. The delegation of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova also includes Ana Calinici, Vice Chair of the Committee on European Integration.

The event is organized to highlight the consequences of Russia’s annexation of Crimea. Discussions will address topics such as sanctions, human rights, security, as well as economic and environmental impacts.

Speeches will be delivered by the Speaker of the Swedish Riksdag, Andreas Norlén, the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, and the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who will send a video message.

The Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament, Igor Grosu, will also deliver a speech referring to the consequences of the war in Ukraine, including its impact on the Republic of Moldova.

Additionally, in Stockholm, Igor Grosu is scheduled to meet with his counterparts from Bulgaria, Croatia, and Lithuania. On Monday, the head of the legislature will also meet Moldovan citizens living in the Kingdom of Sweden.

The Crimea Platform was launched at the governmental level in Kyiv in 2021 at the initiative of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and is an international forum for consultation and coordination. It operates at various levels – between governments, foreign ministers, parliaments and interparliamentary assemblies, as well as civil society and expert communities. Its purpose is to end the occupation of Crimea and ensure its peaceful return to Ukraine.
