The Republic of Moldova is ready to contribute to a stronger and more united European Union, and EU enlargement is a strategic investment in Europe’s stability, security, and prosperity. This message was delivered by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu at the inaugural EU Enlargement Forum in Brussels, organized by Commissioner Marta Kos. The event, under the theme “By enlarging the EU, we secure our future,” brought together EU institutional leaders, representatives of member states and candidate countries, civil society, entrepreneurs, and public policy experts, reports TRIBUNA.
In his address, the Prime Minister emphasized that the European Union builds the future through the strength of a rules-based and democratic model: “For the people of the Republic of Moldova, who have been subjected to constant external interference, the future is about choice. We do not want a future imposed by force or blackmail. Moldova consciously chooses, day by day, democracy, peace, and belonging to the great European family.”
The Prime Minister highlighted that Moldova’s partnership with the EU has strengthened the country’s energy resilience, supported citizens in difficult times, reinforced border security, and accelerated reform processes. Integration into the EU roaming area, accession to the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), and expanded access for Moldovan products to the European market are just a few of the tangible benefits achieved. Through the Growth Plan, the government is also working on projects that will bring direct advantages to people and businesses.
Prime Minister Munteanu further stressed that Moldova’s voice is important in the collective effort to build a more resilient Europe, noting that the country assumes its role as a responsible partner committed to strengthening peace and stability on the continent.
“We are not just beneficiaries of European solidarity, but also contributors to European security. We have withstood hybrid threats, disinformation, and energy blackmail. We have important lessons to share, and we know that only together can we build a stronger and more united Europe,” said the Prime Minister.
