On November 14, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Mihai Popșoi, will undertake a working visit to Strasbourg, where he will participate in the meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, reports TRIBUNA.
The agenda includes a major milestone for Moldova: assuming the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. Moldova will hold this mandate from November 14, 2025, to May 15, 2026.
During the visit, Minister Popșoi will chair the Committee of Ministers meeting and present the priorities of Moldova’s Presidency at the Council of Europe. He will also attend the flag-raising ceremony of the Republic of Moldova at Place de la République in Strasbourg and the inauguration of a tram bearing the Presidency’s logo.
The Committee of Ministers is the Council of Europe’s main decision-making body, responsible for implementing the organization’s objectives. Member states are represented by their foreign ministers and permanent representatives to the Council of Europe.
The Presidency of the Committee of Ministers rotates among member states in alphabetical order, each serving a six-month term. This marks the second time Moldova has held this responsibility, the first being in 2003.
