Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi held a meeting with Gavin Buchan, Canada’s Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, residing in Bucharest, TRIBUNA reports.
The discussions focused on deepening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in the areas of security, economic development, and support for Moldova’s European integration path. The officials highlighted Canada’s consistent contribution to institutional modernization, countering disinformation, and strengthening Moldova’s resilience.
Minister Mihai Popșoi expressed appreciation for the financial and technical support provided by Canada over the years, emphasizing its importance in addressing current regional challenges.
“We express our gratitude for Canada’s commitment and continuous support, including during difficult security periods. Canadian assistance — including support for energy and democratic resilience — has a significant impact on our capacity to adapt and modernize,” stated Mihai Popșoi.
Both sides reaffirmed their shared interest in developing concrete projects to strengthen the Moldova–Canada partnership for the benefit of citizens in both countries.
