The European Commission has released its 2025 Enlargement Package, giving a positive assessment of Moldova’s progress in its EU accession process.
Cristina Gherasimov, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, stated: “This year, Moldova recorded the most progress of all candidate states. I thank all public servants, experts, and partners who worked day and night to achieve these beautiful results.”
According to the Moldova report:
- The country advanced on every negotiation chapter over the past 12 months.
- In 2023, 7 chapters were at an early stage and only 2 moderately prepared.
- By 2025, no chapters remain at the early stage, and one-third are now moderately or better prepared.
- Two-thirds of chapters improved their readiness level in the past year.
Gherasimov added: “This is unprecedented progress for our country and proof that we can deliver. If we achieved this in such a difficult year, I’m confident we’ll make the leap needed to close negotiations within the proposed timeline.”
