Ion Ceban, Mayor of Chișinău, has raised concerns over the Council of Europe’s strong criticism of the Republic of Moldova regarding the functioning of its local public administration, TRIBUNA reports.
According to Ceban, a recent report published by the European institution clearly states: Local authorities in Moldova continue to face limited competencies, reduced financial autonomy, and an excessive administrative burden.
“I propose that the report be reviewed by Moldova’s central authorities, together with CALM (Congress of Local Authorities of Moldova), and that the Council of Europe’s recommendations be adopted and implemented,” the mayor emphasized.
