Nicu Popescu leaves Parliament to become Special Envoy

Nicu Popescu is stepping down from his position as Member of Parliament to take on the role of Special Envoy for European Affairs and Strategic Partnerships, TRIBUNA reports.

“To continue contributing to Moldova’s EU accession process and to strengthening European support for our country, I am giving up my parliamentary mandate and assuming the role of Special Envoy for European Affairs and Strategic Partnerships. In this role, I will focus on political dialogue and the partnerships needed with EU institutions, member states, parliamentarians, media, cultural actors, and Moldova’s strategic partners,” he stated.

Popescu emphasized that he will work in close cooperation with the Presidency, Parliament, Government, Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi, and Cristina Gherasimov from the European Integration Office.

“We have no time to waste: every dialogue, every ally, and every step forward matters. We need unity, clarity, and confidence. The European path is a responsibility—and we will see it through,” he concluded.
