The inaugural session of Moldova’s 12th Parliament, elected on September 28, 2025, was held in Chișinău with the participation of President Maia Sandu, members of the Constitutional Court, the Central Electoral Commission, and representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Moldova, TRIBUNA reports.
The session was chaired by Zinaida Greceanîi, the senior deputy by age in the new Parliament, elected on the list of the Electoral Bloc “Patriotic of the Socialists, Communists, Heart and Future of Moldova.”
“In front of us lie major challenges — economic, social, and institutional — that require strengthening administrative capacities, modernizing education, healthcare, agriculture, and protecting the environment. These challenges demand unity, balance, and wisdom. Every decision must aim to ensure national stability and prosperity, with constant attention to citizens’ needs. I urge us to fulfill our mandate with dignity, integrity, and responsibility, always placing the well-being of the people first. Let us remember that Parliament represents not just one party, but the entire society,” stated Deputy Zinaida Greceanîi.
At the start of the session, Constitutional Court President Domnica Manole presented the report on the results of the snap parliamentary elections and the validation of the elected deputies’ mandates.
“This is a moment of constitutional solemnity, marking the continuity of democracy, legality, and the rule of law. Your mandate is a direct expression of the will of the people of the Republic of Moldova, and the mission you undertake is one of great dignity and responsibility. The Constitutional Court expresses its confidence that the activity of the 12th Legislature will reflect the aspirations of the people, the spirit of the Constitution, and the European values of the Republic of Moldova. On behalf of the Court, I wish you success, integrity, and dedication in fulfilling the high mission entrusted to you,” emphasized Domnica Manole.
President Maia Sandu also addressed the newly elected Parliament:
“The new legislature is called upon to fulfill the constitutional objective of leading the country into the European Union. I urge you to contribute to harmonizing national legislation with European standards and to commit to a sustained pace of adopting the necessary normative acts to advance negotiations, so that during this legislature, the Accession Treaty with the European Union can be signed.”
She called on all parties in the new Parliament to support Moldova’s European integration process with loyalty and good faith:
“Such a commitment would signal your dedication to the profound modernization of our state — a modernization that, in the near future, should also include a territorial-administrative reform, grounded in broad public consultations and aimed at improving public services for citizens, including through full utilization of European funding. Let us work together — with faith — to make Moldova a home of peace and hope for all its citizens,” concluded President Maia Sandu.
