Maia Sandu: I urge the parties in the new Parliament to support, with loyalty and good faith, the European integration process of the Republic of Moldova

During the inaugural session of the newly elected Parliament on September 28, President Maia Sandu declared: “We are at the beginning of a new journey — in a newly elected Parliament to which citizens have entrusted the fate of the country for the next four years, and above all, the mission to preserve peace in Moldova. This beginning carries the hopes and trust of the people, as well as the duty to meet their expectations.”

The Head of State emphasized that Moldova is facing the most complex period since independence, and the responsibility towards its citizens is immense.
“Now more than ever, Moldova needs unity and dedication. It needs each person who takes a seat in this chamber today to fulfill their mandate with honor and integrity, acting solely in the interest of the Republic of Moldova.”

President Sandu reminded MPs that behind every freely cast vote in the recent parliamentary elections — whether in Chișinău, Vulcănești, Drochia, or Taraclia — lie the hopes for a better future for our children and grandchildren, a peaceful and dignified old age for our parents and grandparents, and the desire to lay another brick in the foundation of our shared home: the Republic of Moldova.

She also stressed that despite internal efforts, Moldova’s peace, democracy, and sovereignty will not be fully safeguarded until the European integration process is completed — a truth confirmed by the experience of other countries that became more stable, secure, and prosperous after joining the European Union.

“Now, following the vote of the majority on September 28 — which reaffirmed the will expressed in last year’s referendum — the new Parliament is called upon to fulfill the constitutional objective of leading Moldova into the European Union.

I urge the parties in the new Parliament to support, with loyalty and good faith, the European integration process of the Republic of Moldova. Such a commitment would also signal your dedication to the profound modernization of our state,” Maia Sandu concluded.
