Cristina Gherasimov in Brussels: Moldova Is Ready to Advance Determinedly Toward the EU, with Strong Political Will and Broad Citizen Support

Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Cristina Gherasimov, is currently on a working visit to Brussels. During her meeting with Marta Kos, European Commissioner for Enlargement, she spoke about the pace of reforms and preparations for the next steps on Moldova’s European agenda, TRIBUNA reports.

“We continue to work intensively to advance on our European path. The outcome of the recent elections clearly showed that our citizens want to see Moldova in the EU,” said Cristina Gherasimov.

She thanked the European Commissioner and her team for their support in Moldova’s efforts to improve conditions in the country and raise the standard of living for its citizens.

Cristina Gherasimov also met with Michael McGrath, European Commissioner for Democracy, Justice, and Rule of Law.

“We discussed Moldova’s progress in justice reform, fighting corruption, and strengthening democratic institutions. We also talked about the recent elections, which we managed to organize fairly and transparently, ensuring the integrity of the electoral process despite challenges and attempts at external interference,” she noted.

While in Brussels, the Deputy Prime Minister also participated in the Working Group Meeting on Enlargement and EU Accession Negotiating Countries.

“Moldova is ready to move forward with determination toward EU membership, with strong political will and broad support from its citizens. In record time and under hybrid war conditions, we’ve delivered concrete results, including completing the screening of national legislation against EU law, adopting a National Accession Program, and actively implementing our reform agenda,” said Cristina Gherasimov.

She also exchanged views with representatives of EU member states on Moldova’s future priorities: “Moldova is a reliable partner for the EU and enjoys full support in its path to becoming part of the European family.”
