Tomorrow, October 7, 2025, is the last day to submit documents for registering candidates for elective positions in the upcoming local elections scheduled for November 16, 2025, reports TRIBUNA.
According to the Central Electoral Commission, candidate registration files must be submitted to the constituency electoral councils in the first-level administrative-territorial units where the new local elections will be held.
It is important to note that candidate lists for local council positions must be prepared in Romanian and submitted both in paper and electronic format, respecting the gender quota of at least 40% for each sex, following the formula: minimum 4 candidates of the same gender for every 10 seats.
As of today, October 6, 2025, three applications have been submitted for the position of mayor by candidates nominated by political parties, and subscription lists have been issued for three potential independent candidates.
For the position of local councilor, one candidate list has been submitted by a political party, and a subscription list has been issued for one potential independent candidate.
We remind that new mayoral elections will take place on November 16, 2025, in six localities: Ustia village (Glodeni district), Natalievca commune (Fălești district), Cremenciug commune (Soroca district), Bașcalia village (Basarabeasca district), Călinești commune (Fălești district), and Leova city (Leova district).
Additionally, in Călinești commune and Leova city, a new composition of the local council will also be elected.
