The Patriotic Bloc leaders called on citizens to remain calm and avoid provocations

Following the closure of polling stations, leaders of the Patriotic Bloc—comprising the Socialists, Communists, Heart and Future of Moldova—Igor Dodon, Vasile Tarlev, and Constantin Starîș held a press briefing to thank citizens for their participation and colleagues for their efforts throughout the campaign and on election day, TRIBUNA reports.

Igor Dodon, President of the Socialist Party, called for heightened vigilance during the vote-counting process, alleging that the PAS government is in a state of panic and considering scenarios that exceed legal and democratic norms. “There is even talk of annulling the elections, as PAS has become an authoritarian regime unwilling to relinquish power. For them, the voice of the people holds no weight—only the interests of their party sect matter.”

Dodon emphasized that PAS relied heavily on diaspora support, but has lost much of its former trust abroad. He stated: “Throughout the night and tomorrow, we will closely analyze diaspora data, as there are signs and suspicions of possible political interference by authorities in the voting and counting process. Violations have already been recorded.”

According to Dodon, all incidents will be documented, and a decision regarding the Bloc’s next steps will be announced tomorrow.

He invited opposition representatives and civil society to gather on September 29 at 12:00 PM in front of Parliament for a peaceful demonstration in defense of the people’s choice—without party symbols or flags.

Addressing state institutions and security forces, Dodon urged them to uphold the Constitution: “Please remember: you serve the country and its people, not temporary political forces. Power changes, and the current regime has exhausted its resources. Show dignity and responsibility. Do not obey the dictatorial commands of a panicked and desperate government. Stand with the people.”

In closing, the Patriotic Bloc leaders called on citizens to remain calm and avoid provocations. Dodon stressed that the Bloc will not allow the situation to be destabilized.
