Over 589,000 voters have exercised their right to vote

The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) presents updated data on the conduct of today’s parliamentary elections. The electoral process is proceeding normally, without major incidents. So far, over 589,000 voters have exercised their right to vote.

In the country, the most active constituency is Rezina, where over 22% of voters have cast their ballots. On the other hand, low turnout is recorded in the Briceni constituency, with around 15% voter participation.

In Chișinău municipality, turnout stands at 20%.

As of 12:00, all polling stations established in Europe and Asia are operational. In the coming hours, polling stations in the United States and Canada will begin opening.

Currently, queues have been reported at several polling stations abroad: Brussels (Belgium), Bucharest (Romania), Moscow (Russian Federation), Venice (Italy), and Villeneuve-Saint-Georges (France). In countries with multiple polling stations, voters can find the three closest locations using the app https://diaspora.cec.md.

So far, 60,000 voters have turned out abroad.

In the 12 polling stations established for citizens from localities on the left bank of the Dniester, around 5,000 voters have cast their ballots.

The Bureau for Reintegration Policies has informed that the situation in the Security Zone remains calm, stable, and without significant changes. The flow of people and vehicles through internal customs posts is steady, and the situation on the ground is being effectively monitored and managed by competent authorities. The CEC reiterates the importance of maintaining public order and urges citizens to remain calm and stay in communication with empowered national authorities.

The Commission has received reports of several cases where access for observers was allegedly obstructed at some polling stations. We clarify that only observers accredited by electoral bodies have access to polling stations. They may remain inside throughout the election day—from the opening of the ballot boxes to the counting of votes and finalization of results. Any misunderstandings or registration delays are handled promptly. Each specific case may be reported to electoral authorities for verification.

The CEC, together with state institutions, is taking all necessary measures to ensure a fair, transparent, and secure electoral process.

According to operational data, since the beginning of the day, 31 cases of violations or incidents related to the electoral process have been registered:

  • photographing the ballot — 16 cases;
  • prohibited electoral campaigning — 2 cases;
  • reasonable suspicion of voter bribery — 1 case;
  • unauthorized electoral posters — 1 case;
  • organized transportation of voters — 1 case;
  • other incidents — 6 cases.

The Commission reminds voters who cannot travel to the polling station that they may request a mobile ballot box until 14:00. Requests must be submitted to the polling station’s electoral bureau and accompanied by a medical certificate.

The next press briefing by the Commission will take place at 16:00.
