Republican Party “Heart of Moldova” Calls Ministry of Justice’s Request a New Abuse of Power

The Republican Party “Heart of Moldova” has reacted strongly to the Ministry of Justice’s request to limit the party’s activities, calling it a new abuse by those in power. According to the party, the decision is entirely unfounded and clearly aimed at silencing their voice.

“The Ministry of Justice didn’t even wait for the court’s decision regarding the Central Electoral Commission’s ruling. We had already announced that we would challenge the abusive decision of the CEC, which requested the Ministry to restrict our party’s activity.

Moreover, the Ministry of Justice failed to wait for the results of the financial audit initiated by the CEC, which could have proven either the guilt or innocence of our party. This constitutes a blatant violation of the constitutional principle of presumption of innocence.

The Ministry also completely ignored Article 21 of the Law on Political Parties, which explicitly states that political party activity cannot be restricted during an electoral campaign,” the party’s statement reads.

Led by Irina Vlah, the formation further stated: “It is absolutely clear that the Ministry of Justice is executing a political order. For this Ministry, the law no longer matters—only the instructions it receives. These actions must be classified as abuse, and those responsible must be held accountable.”

In this context, the Republican Party “Heart of Moldova” issued appeals to observers, citizens, and the entire political class: “We call on election observers to take note of this extraordinary case and to assess it within the scope of their authority.

We also call on citizens and the entire political class to recognize that a dangerous precedent has been set—one that undermines democracy in the Republic of Moldova for years to come.”
