Prime Minister Dorin Recean announced today the full investment by the U.S. Government in the construction of the Strășeni–Gutinaș power transmission line, TRIBUNA reports.
“Today, I am announcing an important step for the energy security of the Republic of Moldova. Thanks to our investment partnership with the United States of America, we will build the Strășeni–Gutinaș line—a new connection that will eliminate energy blackmail and guarantee electricity supply. With a $130 million investment from the U.S. Government, we will construct the high-voltage Strășeni–Gutinaș transmission line.
This line will span 190 kilometers and will directly connect Moldova to Romania and the European grid. I thank the Government of the United States for this investment in the European future of the Republic of Moldova,” stated the head of the Cabinet.
According to the Prime Minister, while in the past not a single brick was laid nor a single wire drawn to free Moldova from blackmail and threats, in just four years, thanks to strong partnerships, the country is building its true independence.
“Thus, following the Chișinău–Vulcănești line, which will be completed this year, we will have two more high-voltage connections: one in the northern region of the country—Bălți–Suceava, currently in the design phase—and another in the central region of the Republic of Moldova—Strășeni–Gutinaș,” Dorin Recean announced ahead of the Cabinet meeting.
