During her visit to Strasbourg, President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, held meetings with the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola; the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas; and leaders of the main political groups in the European Parliament: the European People’s Party Group, the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats, the Renew Europe Group, the European Conservatives and Reformists Group, and the Greens Group, TRIBUNA reports.
The Head of State discussed the need for continued strong support from the EU legislature for Moldova’s EU accession path, including through economic assistance provided to our country. Maia Sandu also welcomed the decision to open a liaison office of the European Parliament in Chișinău.
During the talks, the President emphasized Moldova’s progress on the European path, the importance of maintaining the democratic course and ensuring the integrity of elections, as well as the need for a joint response to current security challenges. She stressed that Moldova can ensure peace and security through active diplomacy based on strong relations with its partners and neighbors.
