Igor Grosu to the PACE Pre-Election Mission: “It Is Important to Prevent Potential Threats”

Speaker of Parliament Igor Grosu held a meeting with the delegation of the pre-election mission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), currently visiting the Republic of Moldova to assess the electoral campaign and the political climate ahead of the parliamentary elections, TRIBUNA reports.

Discussions focused on topics such as preparations for the parliamentary elections, the conduct of voting abroad, national and cyber security, disinformation and propaganda, and foreign interference.

In his message, the Speaker expressed gratitude to the Council of Europe for its support to the Republic of Moldova and emphasized the importance of holding fair elections, highlighting the actions taken by the authorities in this regard. “It is important to have as many observers involved as possible to monitor the electoral process, to prevent potential threats, and to ensure that any attempts at electoral corruption are sanctioned according to the law,” Igor Grosu stated.

The officials also met at Parliament with members of the “Party of Action and Solidarity” parliamentary faction, members of the “Bloc of Communists and Socialists” faction, as well as representatives of state institutions responsible for various administrative aspects of the electoral process.

It is worth recalling that parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova will take place on September 28. In this context, a delegation from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will monitor the electoral process in the coming period.
