RECORD: 50 applications were submitted to participate in the parliamentary elections

Yesterday, August 19, 2025, at 5:00 p.m., the deadline for submitting the necessary documents for the registration of candidates for the parliamentary elections of September 28, 2025 ended. During the period between July 20 and August 19, the time provided for by the electoral legislation for requesting the registration of candidates for the position of deputy in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, 50 applications were submitted to the Central Electoral Commission, TRIBUNA informs.

Of these:

·          25 applications from political formations;

·          4 applications from electoral blocs;

·          3 applications from independent candidates who formed an initiative group;

·          18 applications from candidates for independent candidate status who announced that they would collect signatures on their own.

As of today, August 19, 2025, the CEC has registered 12 electoral competitors, including:

·          7 political parties

·         3 electoral blocs

·         2 independent candidates

The Commission rejected a request from a political party, on the grounds that the list of proposed persons was below the admissible number and the incorrect positioning, and an application for registration of an electoral bloc consisting of four successor political formations of a political party declared unconstitutional.

Subsequently, all of these parties requested registration individually.

At this stage, there are 18 files submitted by 13 political parties and 5 applicants for the status of independent candidate under examination. The deadline for examining each request is 7 days, thus, the requests submitted during today’s meeting will be examined at the Commission meeting until August 26, inclusive.

In the context in which yesterday was the last day for submitting documents for registration in the electoral race, including subscription lists and ID cards, we remind you that the lists in question, those used and those not used, as well as the ID cards of the collectors are returned to the electoral body. This measure is necessary to comply with the conditions for the protection of personal data.

The electoral campaign for the parliamentary elections on September 28 will begin on August 29 this year.
