Cristina Gurez, editor-in-chief of the TRIBUNA.md news portal and the annual publication “Political Almanac of the Republic of Moldova”, between October 13-19, 2024, made a study visit with the theme “The Future of the European Union – Reforms and Enlargement”, at the invitation of the Federal Foreign Office, in Berlin, as a journalist – representative of the Republic of Moldova.
The program participants had a series of meetings and discussions with officials and opinion leaders about the priorities and plans of Germany and the European Union.
“Last week, I had the honor and joy – at the invitation of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany, to be in Berlin as a journalist – representative of the Republic of Moldova within the study visit “The Future of the European Union – Reforms and Enlargement”.
Together with journalists and representatives of civil society from 10 other countries, we learned from the first source – from government officials, politicians, experts, association leaders – details about the politics and economy of Germany and the European Union, as well as many interesting things, new information, including “behind the scenes” details. Of course, there were also questions and discussions about the Republic of Moldova – a candidate state for the EU, which will soon open accession negotiations.
The essential messages found during this visit are: Germany supports and will support the Republic of Moldova both bilaterally and on its way to the EU; The Republic of Moldova is expected in the great European family when it is ready; Until then, there will be years of reforms and effort, of positive transformation in all areas, for the benefit of citizens.
In addition to the study and work part, I also had the opportunity to (re)discover Berlin, the history, culture and cuisine of Germany. It’s always a pleasure!
I am extremely grateful for this experience! Thank you very much, Embassy of Germany in Chisinau, Federal Foreign Office!”, wrote Cristina Gurez, in a post on Facebook.
