Alexandr Stoianoglo, the candidate of the Socialist Party of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM) for the position of President, accepts electoral debates for Sunday, October 27, informs TRIBUNA.
“After the briefings on October 21, the PSRM candidate proposed the use of a neutral platform, while President Maia Sandu’s team opted for organizing the debates on public television. In the end, it was agreed that the location would be the Palace of the Republic, and the transmission would be provided by the Teleradio-Moldova Company.
Discussions are currently focused on the date of the debates. Alexandr Stoianoglo’s team proposed Thursday, October 31, but Sandu’s team rejected this date, insisting on holding the event on Thursday or Friday this week. In an attempt to find a compromise, the Stoianoglo team proposed Sunday, but no final agreement has yet been reached.
As for the moderator, the Stoianoglo team proposed the journalist Gheorghe Gonța. Although the representative of the Sandu team initially hesitated to accept him, noting that the proposal would be analyzed internally, they later accepted Gonța as moderator. At this stage, the discussions are on the sidelines of the day. We stick to the compromise solution – Sunday, October 27” – says a statement of the socialists.
It should be noted that the format and structure of the debates have not yet been determined.
