Vlad Filat: The President informs us that the nominal pension has increased twice, but she forgot to tell us that there was the largest increase in prices in the last 25 years

“Ms. Maia Sandu calmly informs us that the nominal pension has increased twice. I draw attention to the word NOMINAL. What the president forgot to tell us is that during her mandate, the Republic of Moldova faced the highest price increase in the last 25 years, and in the energy segment we had a 6-fold increase, an unprecedented increase in our history. Growth generated by incompetence and corruption. Inflation in this cumulative period reached 65%, but for pensioners this indicator is irrelevant” – noted Vlad Filat, ex-Prime Minister, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM), informs TRIBUNA.

According to the politician, the most important thing is to analyze the increase in prices of critical products for pensioners.

“And here we have a real shock. Vegetable prices, the basic product consumed by pensioners, increased 2.53 times during Maia Sandu’s mandate. And for communal services 2.25 times. Thus, a simple calculation shows that the prices of products and services consumed by pensioners have increased 2.4 times. This means that nominally the pension has increased, but prices have increased even more. Consequently, today pensioners, with this “increased” pension, are poorer than 4 years ago.

But that’s not all there is to the violation of the constitutional right that belongs to an acquired right.

In 2022, although the indexation of pensions was supposed to be by 34%, in an illegal, immoral manner, pensions were indexed by only 17%, which further impoverished the pensioners.
Maia Sandu also forgot to say that there are two categories of pensioners in the Republic of Moldova:
– those who retired upon reaching the age, not having 15 years of experience, in the number of 20,080 people who receive the average allowance of 1,387.80 lei.
– the second category of pensioners due to disability, numbering 20,954 people who receive the average allowance of 1,353.44 lei.
What have you done for these people, Madam President?!”, he mentioned.
