President Maia Sandu, candidate nominated by the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) for the position of President of the Republic of Moldova, said that she will see if she will participate in the electoral debates in the campaign for October 20, but also that the debates are necessary in the elections, informs TRIBUNE.
“Debates are a useful element of democracy when those who participate in these debates want to debate on concrete topics and in a civilized way. When multiple candidates turn these debates into a show of bad taste, then that doesn’t really help citizens form their opinion. Unfortunately, I think we have several candidates in this campaign who have other goals. I’m going to see who the debates are with…”, she said during the show “In depth” on Pro TV.
At the same time, Maia Sandu said: “We have several candidates who are not genuine, who are guided by a single source, not to have a rich democratic process, but to turn these discussions into ridiculous things.”
