European Parliament votes resolution sanctioning Vladimir Plahotniuc, Ilan Shor

MOLDPRES/ – The European Parliament has voted a resolution on the sanctioning of the former president of the Moldovan Democratic Party (PDM), Vladimir Plahotniuc and the leader of the Shor Party, Ilan Shor, for corruption acts and attempts of destabilization in Moldova, jointly with Russia.

The resolution’s author is a Romanian MEP, Vlad Gheorghe. ‘’The introduction of those who are guilty of corruption on the list European sanctions is an important decision for Moldova. It is necessary that we sanction other oligarchs too. We support and help Moldova join the European Union,’’ Vlad Gheorghe said.

Through this document, the European Parliament urges EU to sanction Vladimir Plahotniuc and Ilan Shor. At the same time, if necessary, their enterprises and political organizations should be sanctioned too. Also, the countries are urged to extradite Ian Shor and Vladimir Plahotniuc, in order to be tried in Moldova.

The resolution adopted does not have legal value, but shows the position of the European Parliament.
