The officers of the National Anticorruption Center and the Security Intelligence Service, together with the anticorruption prosecutors, raided several locations in the country today. The criminal prosecution actions take place within the framework of a case initiated regarding the illegal financing of a party in the Republic of Moldova, by an organized criminal group.

According to the evidence presented in the case, it was found that the party would have consciously accepted money of dubious origin, from a criminal group, which was used in the interest of the party, such as fees for artists, salaries for members and the organization of protests. The money of the criminal group came to the Republic of Moldova in the form of transfers and conversions, including cryptocurrency, and various financing channels were used to mask the origin of the financial means such as Dubai, Vienna, Monaco.

Thus, several episodes were documented according to which, in the first semester of the current year, the party allegedly made payments in the amount of 600,000 euros, while the reported expenses were just over 228,000 lei. From the same sources of criminal provenance, monthly salaries of 100,000 euros would have been paid to party members, and over 3.5 million lei would have been used to transport participants to the protests in the Great National Assembly Square.

It should be noted that in the first half of the year the party indicated that it was financed by 1.7 million lei.

Currently, in order to strengthen the evidence, other actions are being carried out to ensure a complete, objective investigation in all aspects of the investigated facts. They are carried out within the legal limits, ensuring compliance with the principle of the presumption of innocence of the persons concerned and compliance with all procedural rights and guarantees.
