SOMETHING WOULD BE UNDERSTANDED IN THE PRESIDENCY, BUT WAS DONE SOMETHING ELSE! IGOR DODON: PARLIAMENTARY MAJORITY WILL SUBMIT A NEW CANDIDATE

The Socialists Party of Republic of Moldova (PSRM) will not sustain the candidacy of Igor Grosu at the Prime Minister function, and the parliamentary majority will propose a new candidate. The announcement was made by the Socialists leader Igor Dodon, on NTV Moldova, informs the TRIBUNA news site.

“The probability that Igor Grosu will be supported by PSRM tends to zero. We must convene the Republican Council, the Executive, but I do not believe that the PSRM will support this candidacy for Prime Minister,” said Dodon.

He also said there is a chance that this decree of Maia Sandu would also be appointed unconstitutional, because the country’s President must designate the candidate of the parliamentary majority.

Dodon also said that for him it was a surprise Mariana Durleșteanu’s announcement to withdraw her candidacy for Prime Minister. The Socialists leader stated that he had a discussion yesterday morning with Mariana Durleșteanu in which she did not say anything about the decision made public in the afternoon.

“We are discussing and we will discuss with Mrs. Durleșteanu different political scenarios. Promoting with our support in a high position in the state, as he was a candidate for Prime Minister or other political projects, it may be even further but time will show. Therefore, I expected the answer to the question or not, this morning I spoke with Mrs. Durleșteanu and Mrs. Greceanîi spoke last night. It is received that we have discussions with her every day, because she is in London with her family. I wish success and health to those close to me.  It was not her intention in the morning to withdraw and I reconfirmed that we are ready to support her further. Very strange, after this morning discussions it was clear that it was a surprise”, said Dodon, on NTV Moldova.

The PSRM president also announced that in the next few days the parliamentary majority would again submit a candidate for Prime Minister, and the time will show who it will be.

“Given the fact that it was the decision of the Constitutional Court that practically nullified what was until February 23.  It was a candidacy submitted by the parliamentary majority that wasn’t accepted by Maia Sandu and she signed a decree appointing Natalia Gavrilița. In this situation, when the Constitutional Court annulled the repeated decree of Maia Sandu, some lawyers said and are of the same opinion that Mrs. Durlesteanu’s candidacy was annulled. That is why, in the next few days when it will be the sitting of the Parliament, we will submit the candidacy again for Prime Minister from the parliamentary majority.  There is still time to see if it will be Mrs. Durleșteanu or another candidacy “, declared the leader of the Socialists.

As for the presence at the consultations with Maia Sandu and the discussions held, Dodon said that it was an agreed meeting in advance, in order to find solutions in the interest of the citizens.

“It wasn’t an ad hoc meeting, because I got involved among the deputies or because I am going to Maia Sandu. I went to this meeting agreed in advance with a single purpose, to try to find solutions in the interest of the citizens without going to different juridical processes and without going to the Constitutional Court. I had an hour’s talk and we practically agreed to go to the early elections. Maia Sandu wants quickly, but I said that it would be better in the autumn to get rid of the pandemic “, Dodon revealed.

Igor Dodon also specified what they discussed at the consultations. “I assume that we are not submitting another candidacy to the function of Prime Minister, for about 10 days until we come up with the agreed solutions you don’t rush to designate someone else. What happens? We get out of there, sign the decree and submit the candidate “, said the PSRM leader.
