The head of state Maia Sandu, came with a new candidate after the parliamentary majority candidate Mariana Durleșteanu announced he was withdrawing from the race for Prime Minister, informs the TRIBUNA news site.
“I took note of the decision of Mrs. Mariana Durleșteanu to withdraw her candidacy. Considering that there is currently no candidate to be supported by a majority, I decided to submit Mr. Igor Grosu to the function of Prime Minister “, announced Sandu.
“I asked the candidate to form the program and the team”, the head of state wanted to add.
Regarding today’s meetings with the parliamentary factions, the President said: “At consultations we discussed about the position of the parties regarding the political situation”.
The first candidacy of the head of state for the function of Prime Minister Natalia Gavriliță, but also the team for a future Cabinet of Ministers, did not obtain the vote of confidence of the deputies. On February 11, a majority of deputies abstained from voting at the plenary session.
