Moldovan parliament adopts draft law on moratorium for citizenship through investments

Parliament today adopted in first reading a draft law on moratorium for granting the so-called “citizenship through investments”.

The draft sees setting up moratorium until January 1, 2021 on the receipt of new applications for acquiring the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova through investments in the strategic development of our country.

The law on moratorium will enter into force upon publication in the Official Journal of Moldova. Applications submitted before its entry into force will be examined by the government.

According to the decision of the MPs, the moratorium is necessary to examine the issue on granting citizenship through investments and to make a final decision in this regard.
