Iurie Ciocan resigned as CEC member

Iurie Ciocan has submitted his resignation as member of the Central Electoral Commission. He confirmed the information in this regard.

Ciocan said that yesterday he signed his resignation and submitted it to parliament. According to him, the reason for resignation is “disagreement with the recent amendments to the electoral legislation that significantly weaken the CEC membership”.

Iurie Ciocan has been a member of the CEC since 2003. In 2005 he became secretary of the institution, and in 2011 he was elected head of the CEC, which he held until 2016.
