For the first time, the numbering of the legislatures of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova will begin with the year 1990, when the independence of the county was declared and the first democratically elected parliament appeared.
As TRIBUNA informs, according to a press release, the new numbering system has been established by the Constitutional Court and will be applied from the current parliamentary term.
“Thus, the Parliament elected after the elections on 24 February 2019 will be the 10th legislature. We mention that the previous date from the Soviet period, being linked to the Legislature of the Supreme Soviet of the RSSM. Since 2017, the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova has established the Days of the Parliament in May. On May 23, 1991, was passed the law by which the Moldovan RSSM became the Republic of Moldova, and the Supreme Soviet was renamed to the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova. “
