How has the electoral reform influenced the composition of the new Parliament

The parliamentary elections of 24 February 2019 were held for the first time on the basis of the mixed electoral system. In this article we suggest you see how the electoral reform influenced the composition of the new Parliament, considering that one of the arguments was that new people will come to the Legislature, many will be delegated directly by the citizens.

Thus, 43 of the 101 deputies elected in the new Parliament have parliamentary experience. The most immune deputy is the Democrat Dumitru Diacov – 21 years of mandate. He is followed by the Democrat Vladimir Vitiuc, who has been a deputy since 2005 until now. The socialist Vladimir Turcan has about 10 years of experience in Legislative, being a deputy in the years 2001 – 2002, 2005 – 2010 and 2014 – present. Nine years of parliamentary experience include the socialist Zinaida Greceanii and the Democrat Angel Agache, deputies from 2009 to present.

Alexandru Oleinic, Igor Vremea, and Serghei Sârbu have eight years of experience, and seven years: Andrian Candu, Oleg Sarbu and Maria Ciobanu.

Most of the deputies coming to the new Legislature (19), if their mandates will be validated by the CC, have a legislative experience of 4 years. These are the socialists: Ion Ceban, Eduard Smirnov, Vladimir Odnostalco, Bogdat Tirdea, Radu Mudreac, Alla Dolinta, Ivan Zabunov, Vladimir Golovatiuc, Corneliu Furculita, Alexandr Nesterovschi, Oleg Savva, Fogor Gagauz, Grigore Novac, Oleg Lipskii, Vasile Bolea and Vlad Batrâncea, the Democrats: Corneliu Padnevici and Vladimir Plahotniuc, but also the deputy elected from the bloc NOW, Lilian Carp.

Three years of legislative experience has Vladimir Andronachi, Eugene Nichiforciuc, Gheorghe Braşovschi, Adrian Lebedinschi, and Elena Bacalu; two years – Constantin Botnari and Pavel Filip and one year (or less) of parliamentary experience: Oazu Nantoi, Monica Babuc, Vasile Bâtca, and Maia Sandu.

It is worth mentioning that Efrosinia Gretu has a three-month experience and Eleonora Graur – a month.
