Moldovan authorities have asked the competent bodies of the Russian Federation to ensure the access of the Moldovan delegation today to the two Moldovans released from prison in Afghanistan, TRIBUNA informs.
According to a press release of the Ministry, the request of the Moldovan authorities is apparent from the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations (1963), Article 5, points a), e), g), h), and in particular Article 36, paragraph 1 , The Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations (1961), Article 3 (1) (b), which provide for the right to protection in the receiving State of the interests of the acceding State and of its citizens, to the extent permitted by international law, and The Consular Convention between the Republic of Moldova and the Russian Federation (1994).
The Delegation, formed by Mihail Căpăţînă, General State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MAEIE) and the State Chancellery State Physician Evgheni Vasiliev, went to Moscow yesterday to provide the necessary assistance to Moldovan citizens Lionel Buruiana (born in 1982) and Mihai Crihana (born in 1965) and to carry out the necessary procedures for their return to the Republic of Moldova.
