Once he becomes the president of CCRM, Marian Lupu will have to give up some functions

Marian Lupu, the vice-president of the Democratic Party of Moldova, the head of the parliamentary formation in the current Legislature, will be forwarded to the legislature for the appointment of the president of the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova (CCRM), after winning the contest, but once he becomes the president of CCRM, he will have to give up party activity and political functions.

As TRIBUNA informs according to Law regarding the organization and operation of the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova, the President of institution is appointed by Parliament for a 5-year term,at the proposal of the President of the Parliament, based on a public contest, with the vote of the majority of the elected deputies.

At the same time, according to the same law, The CCRM is an apolitical institution. “Members of the Court of Accounts, during their term, suspend any political activity, including the political parties or other social-political organizations,” the law says.

It is worth mentioning that after the interview for the position of chief of the CCRM, Marian Lupu mentioned that he has 14 years in the government services, 14 years in the Parliament and he is not sure if he will leave politics forever or just will take a break.‘’At 7-8 years, psychologically, changes are recommended. However, 14 years in Parliament are enough. I consider that the departure of politics is not done at once with physical death. We made a decision in this regard in the autumn after a broad analysis. It can be a break from politics, it can be a departure forever, we will see ‘’the Democrat said.

At the same time, being asked if the function of head of the CCRM is suitable for him in view of his political activity, Lupu said that if it will be necessary he would take the oath and then carry out the necessary procedures in this regard.

The vice-president of the PDM Party Andrian Candu spoke yesterday about the advancement of Marian Lupu to the CCRM leadership and the fact that he probably will leave the party.’’ Every politician has certain periods, there are moments when some people take a break in their political activity. I am sure that good people, devoted to a team, can always come back, even at the head of a party or institution. Candu also said that when you delegate a person in a position at an institution does not mean that the person is completely detached from the team. “But it also depends on the institution, as far as it is independent, politically affiliated”, he said.

TRIBUNA recalls: Marian Lupu joined the Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova in 2005. In 2009 he came to the head of the Democratic Party of Moldova, until 2016, and since then he is vice-president.
