Moldovan parliament votes new governor of BNM

Minister of Finance, Octavian Armasu, will take over the position of governor of the National Bank of Moldova now. For his candidacy, there voted 54 MPs at the parliamentary meeting.

Octavian Armasu was appointed for a seven – year term and will take up the vacant position after resignation of Sergiu Cioclea.

The candidacy of Armasu was proposed by SP Andrian Candu, who noted that he has been a professional and proved good manager skills. “Armasu succeeded with the team of the Ministry of Finance (MF) to bring to high level everything that means public finances. He has great experience both in the private and public sectors. He is known by international partners, with whom he has to work,” said Candu.

Octavian Armasu is 49 years old and he was appointed as Minister of Finance to the Government of Filip in January 2016. Previously, Armasu served as Chief Financial Officer of Südzucker Moldova.

Also today, the Legislature has named Victoria Muntean as deputy Director of the National Centre for Personal Data Protection (CNPDCP).
