Government commisison for European integration approaches developments in implementation of EU-Moldova Association Agreement

Prime Minister Pavel Filip chaired yesterday a meeting of the government commission for European integration. The event was focused on developments in the implementation of the National Action Plan for the implementation of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement, focusing on the economic sector, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The premier said that the meeting of the Association Council, held in early May, as well as the bilateral meetings with European officials reconfirmed that the progress made by the Moldovan authorities contributes to advancing the country’s European course and opening new possibilities in the dialogue with the EU.

In this context, the participants pointed out the importance of expanding the list of categories of products of animal origin that can be exported to EU countries, and analyzed the developments in the implementation of the action plan on export of chicken meat and eggs of category B. To get the right to export, actions have been taken to harmonize the legal framework, training over 400 employees of ANSA in inspection, working out of programmes on monitoring and control of diseases in poultry.

Also, the commission members referred to the developments in meeting the commitments to the EU in transport and energy. The main focus was on achieving the project to extend the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline to Chisinau as soon as possible, starting with construction works by late August. At the same time, they discussed the possibilities of connecting Moldova to the European energy market.

They also highlighted the importance of increasing the level of adjusting the legislation to EU standards. In another context, they approached development in achieving conditions for obtaining EU macro-financial assistance.
