Silvia Radu resigns as acting mayor of Chisinau

Silvia Radu today resigned from the position of acting mayor of Chisinau.

She announced she made official steps to complete the activity at the Chisinau city hall.

”I thank all my colleagues I worked with these months, sometimes day and night. It was an experience from which I learned many useful things and I had the opportunity to better know the residents of Chisinau. I will continue to support the modernization of the capital in my future activities. I thank the Chisinau people who voted and I especially thank those who gave me confidence in their vote,” she said.

“I wish very much that things really start to change in Chisinau, that’s why I have run for this and I have worked for five months as acting mayor. Citizens must demand the future mayor to work for the city and leave the politics aside, just so we will have real changes in the city. I can say that good things can be done for the city, if there is willingness and involvement from the mayor,” Radu said.

Before initiating in the campaign for new local elections, Silvia Radu submitted an application suspending her acting as interim mayor. Deputy mayor Ruslan Codreanu took over the interim mandate.

Ion Ceban grabbed 40.97 per cent of the votes, Andrei Nastase – 32.12 per cent and Silvia Radu (independent candidate) – 17.65 per cent of votes.
