The Liberal Party’s candidate for mayor general of Chisinau municipality Valeriu Munteanu on April 4 submitted the documents needed for being registered as a contender in the May 20 mayoral elections. Valeriu Munteanu is the first to present his file to the Chisinau Municipal District Electoral Council, IPN reports.

Making statements for the press, Valeriu Munteanu said the Plahotniuc-Dodon duo captured the whole country and their plan is to now capture Chisinau, but he can thwart this scenario. “We must transform Chisinau into a really European city. We come to build, not to mend,” he stated.

The Liberal said he will campaign on a low budget and will bank on the open dialogue with the citizens and on visits from home to home.

The Chisinau Municipal District Electoral Council has seven days to check the documents and take a decision as to the registration of the candidate.

If more applicants file the documents today, a draw to decide their order in the ballot will be held at 5pm.

The chairman of the Party “Democracy at Home” Vasile Costiuc in the morning came to present the documents to the Chisinau Municipal District Electoral Council, but could not do it because he didn’t have the new tax return form. He said he will come back after he obtains it.
