Liberals start to collect signatures for dismissal of Igor Dodon

The Liberal Party initiated the collection of signatures in favor of the dismissal of Igor Dodon from the position of President for the reason that this violates the Constitution. The announcement was made by the Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu in a news conference given near the State Residence on May 18, IPN reports.

Mihai Ghimpu said that a campaign to collect signatures is launched today. Among the violations of the Constitution invoked by the Liberals is the fact that the President ignores the decisions of the Constitutional Court, including the one about the Romanian language, and that he welcomes the delay in providing financial assistance to the Republic of Moldova by the European Union.

The Liberal leader noted that this initiative was launched in January in response to the collection by Socialists of signatures for the dismissal of Dorin Chirtoaca from the post of mayor of Chisinau. In January, the Liberal Party registered a bill to suspend Igor Dodon and organize a referendum, but they could not collect the necessary number of signatures.

A number of video clips will be broadcast within the campaign to inform the citizens about the Liberals’ initiative.
