Two Moldovan Liberals quit party today

Liberals Artur Gutium and Vladimir Cernat quit the Liberal Party faction. MPs made the statement on social network.

The two lawmakers said they left the faction as all appeals to the party leadership to solve problems existing in the party had been ignored.

“Taking into account the ignorance of all appeals to the PL leadership to solve problems, the way of excluding our colleague Anatol Salaru, lack of internal democracy, I declare dissociation from PL leadership and continuing my work as an independent MP”, Gutium said.

For his part, lawmaker Vladimir Cernat said that “a string of irregular decisions in the PL and lack of internal democracy have caused serious image prejudices to our party. With great regret I found that all my attempts to boost a dialogue of internal reform within the PL leadership have resulted in failure. In this context, I declare that starting today, I leave the PL faction and I will further work as an independent MP”, Cernat said.

PL leader Mihai Ghimpu said he knew about the intention of the two MPs to leave the Liberal faction. “If they believe they will be appreciated as traitors better than Liberals that is their business. I knew about their departure. I had no great use of their presence, but it is a bad example for citizens”, he said.

Earlier, former deputy head of PL Anatol Salaru said that among his new formation will be found Liberals Artur Gutium and Vladimir Cernat.

After leaving the two lawmakers, the PL faction will be represented by 11 MPs.
