Special Representative of OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for Transnistrian Settlement Process unveils results of visit to Moldova

Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for Transnistrian Settlement Process on behalf of Austria Wolf Dietrich Heim today presented the results of his visit to Moldova.

The official noted he had meetings in Chisinau and Tiraspol with all sides involved in the Transnistrian conflict settlement. “We want the meetings in the 5+2 format to be open and transparent, therefore, we try to maintain the approach set over the past years. Presently, we are concerned with the elaboration of the agenda on the meeting, where we will focus on the issues in the economic, communications, transport, border crossing, farmers’ activity and schools with Latin script. All actions are meant to easy up the life of people from both banks of the Dniestre, so that in the coming months we are waiting for first positive results”, he said.

Wolf Dietrich Heim said that the Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz visited Kiev and Moscow and approached the communication in the 5+2 format. “The official will pay a visit to Moldova on 3-4 February 2017 and will have meetings with official representatives of Chisinau and Tiraspol”, the quoted source reads.

Wolf Dietrich Heim paid an official visit to Chisinau and Tiraspol on 17-20 January 2017. He had meetings with Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, Prime Minister Pavel Filip, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Gheorghe Balan, Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Lilian Darii. Also, the official met with leader of Transnistrian region Vadim Krasnoselski in Tiraspol, head of so-called supreme soviet Alexander Scherba and acting political representative on behalf of the Transnistrian region Vitaly Ignatiev.
