Almost 300,000 people cast their ballots by 10am. This is 10.53% of the voters. The electors in Donduseni district are the most active (over 12.54%), while those in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia are the most passive (7.19%), IPN reports.

CEC president Alina Russu told the journalists that the highest voter turnout was recorded in Pocrovca village of Donduseni district – 41%. In Tataresti, Straseni, only almost 3% of the voters cast their ballots.

Alina Russu said no violations have been reported so far and all the polling stations work normally. As to the earthquake that rocked Italy this morning, she said this didn’t affect the work of the polling places in the region.

Also, the CEC received no challenges concerning activities of election runners or decisions or actions of inferior electoral bodies.

Polling places are open until 9pm.
